Overview

Overview

To create the Wolf Blass Gold Label collection, our winemakers select the definitive varieties of the very best South Australian wine regions to produce a range of progressive, elegant wines showcasing regional and varietal excellence.

Crafted from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, selected for regionally expressive fruit with intense varietal character. Vineyard batches were crushed and destemmed separately, then fermented in small open fermenters for 7 to 10 days, with a mix of plunging and gentle pumping over used to optimise extraction of flavour, colour and tannin.

Map of South Australia

South Australia

Home to the oldest vines in the country, and no less than 18 wine growing regions, South Australia accounts for almost 50% of Australia’s wine production. The Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Coonawarra are well known for their world class reds, with Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Eden Valley praised for their exceptional Chardonnay and Riesling.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

Winter rainfall was well below average, however rains through November and December helped set up canopies for the warm, dry summer ahead. Cooling southerly breezes during most evenings helped temper the hot days. Shiraz was picked when optimally ripe while retaining natural acidity and fresh, bright flavours

Wolf Blass Team

The Wolf Blass team of winemakers share a similar working ethos – to boldly chase the pursuit of excellence, to uphold and represent Wolf Blass' proud history, and to create wine of exceptional quality.
