South Australia
Home to the oldest vines in the country, and no less than 18 wine growing regions, South Australia accounts for almost 50% of Australia’s wine production. The Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Coonawarra are well known for their world class reds, with Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Eden Valley praised for their exceptional Chardonnay and Riesling.
Higher than average rainfall through winter and spring resulted in good soil moisture profiles to start the season. Predominantly mild summer conditions and a warm, dry autumn allowed for slow, moderate ripening. This led to high quality wines with bright, vibrant fruit, great flavour development and varietal definition
マリー・クレイワイン・メーカー
ウルフ・ブラスのワインメーカー、マリー・クレイは父親が南オーストラリア産赤ワインの素晴らしいセラーを持っており、娘2人の誕生年のワインを集めていました。マリーの誕生年のワインは1979年ウルフ・ブラス ブラック・ラベルであり、21歳の誕生日の際に開けられました。
2000年、アデレード大学醸造学科を首席で卒業し、マリーはサウスコープ・ワイン奨学金を獲得しました。この間、オーストラリアの著名なワイン生産地（クナワラ、バロッサ、グレート・ウェスタン）の最良のワインメーカーとトレーニングをしました。
ブルゴーニュとトスカーナでの最新ヴィンテージを手がけるなどの経験をした後、マリーは2005年にウルフ・ブラスに入社しました。
現代的なワイナリーで働くのが好きなマリーは、果実の持つポテンシャルを最大限に表現しています。ラングホーン・クリークとマクラーレン・ヴェイルは、グレー・ラベル・レンジの中心的な場所で、彼女の心の故郷です。
マリーはバロッサを故郷と呼んでいます。父親のセラーは1時間ほど離れた距離にあります。
