Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

White grapefruit and nectarine with supportive subtle oak, almond, nougat, cashew and notes of mineral flint.

Flavours and Palate

Lively and fresh, with white grapefruit and nectarine aromas supported by almond nougat and cashew notes, lifted by mineral flint. Delicate yet powerful. A core of bright grapefruit and white nectarine provides succulent flavour, complemented by subtle phenolic texture and a gentle long acid line. Well integrated French oak gives complexity to the fruit core while the fine flinty edge adds another layer of interest and speaks of the provenance of this cool climate region.

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

The Adelaide Hills is one of Australia’s younger wine regions, but it’s as savvy as its famous Sauv Blanc. With a cool climate and high altitude, its dynamic winemakers are also responsible for top notch Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

A cool and late vintage favouring the retention of vibrant fruit flavours, aromatics and natural acidity. Disease pressure was present for the region but avoided in the 2 vineyards making up this small blend.

Clare Dry - Winemaker

During her teens, Clare's interest in horticulture led to work experience at a winery on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula where she grew up. It took just two days of work experience for her to know she wanted a career in the wine industry. After high school, Clare enrolled in a Bachelor of Oenology (Wine Science) at Adelaide University and then, with a thirst for more practical knowledge before recommencing study, took a gap year to work on a vintage on the Mornington Peninsula, and a second in the Pfalz region of Germany.

Since her graduation in 2007, Clare has been a key member of the Wolf Blass team and works alongside her colleagues to ensure the guiding principles behind each wine are met.
