2nd March 2017

Launching on Thursday 2 March, the 2017 Wolf Blass Luxury Collection offers a portfolio of wines that demonstrate the skill, passion, dedication and craftsmanship of our winemakers.

Honouring the values of quality, character and consistency first established by Wolf in 1966, we present a range of traditional, yet contemporary wines that showcase the Wolf Blass hallmarks of power and elegance.

This year we release the 41st vintage of our iconic Black Label. Chris Hatcher, Chief Winemaker says, “Since 1973, the chase to make the perfect wine has been fundamental to creating 41 remarkable vintages of Black Label, one of Australia’s most decorated wines. Artful blending has made a sophisticated, multi-layered wine with a complex composition of intense fruit and magnificent structure.

The wines that make up the 2017 Wolf Blass Luxury Collection are:

Wolf Blass White Label Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2016

“Piccadilly Valley has again delivered pristine, elegant fruit to create a refined, distinctive and regionally expressive Chardonnay. Focused acidity drives a complex, structural palate with impeccable balance and exceptional length of flavour.

John Ashwell, Winemaker

Wolf Blass Grey Label Langhorne Creek Cabernet Shiraz 2014

“The distinction, elegance and power of Langhorne Creek is expressed enticingly in Grey Label Cabernet Shiraz. Evolving since the first 1967 blend, it remains constant in the quality, character and style that is Grey Label.”

Marie Clay, Winemaker

Wolf Blass Grey Label McLaren Vale Shiraz 2014

“Grey Label Shiraz is one of my favourite wines, not only to drink but also to observe during vintage and blending. McLaren Vale produces ripe Shiraz with elegance, power and complexity. Combined with classic winemaking techniques, the end result is a wine that is both drinkable on release, yet also possesses the structure and fruit density to age gracefully. A wine that evolves over time, my cellar will always have room for this gem!”

Clare Dry, Winemaker

Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec 2013

“My connection and fascination with Black Label dates back to the 1976 Royal Melbourne Wine Show when it won the Jimmy Watson Trophy for a third consecutive year, a feat no other wine has ever achieved. Melbourne was my first wine show and little did I know then, that I would work for Wolf Blass for more than twenty-eight years, twenty as Chief Winemaker, and we would win a fourth “Jimmy” with the 1998 vintage.”

Chris Hatcher, Chief Winemaker

Wolf Blass Medlands Vineyard Platinum Label Shiraz 2013

“A single vineyard wine from the unique Medlands Vineyard that showcases the power and intensity of the 2013 vintage. The very best of Barossa Shiraz is expressed within a cloak of lifted fruit and the velvety texture that is the hallmark of Wolf Blass.”

Steven Frost, Senior Winemaker

Wolf Blass Brown Label Classic Shiraz 2014

“Brown Label Shiraz brings together the best of three regions, uniting McLaren Vale, Clare and Barossa Valleys in a unique, synergistic blend. With traditional roots and modern appeal, it holds the promise of complexity, completeness and ageing potential.”

Marie Clay, Winemaker
