Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon has excelled at the 2017 Limestone Coast Wine Show, taking home four major trophies and two gold medals.

The 2015 Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded a gold medal and went on to win the Show's ultimate honour, the Bill Redman Trophy for Best Wine of Show, also collecting the David Wynn Trophy for Best Red Wine of Show and the H.R. (Ron) Haselgrove Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon; with Wolf Blass viticulturist Martin Wirper awarded the highly coveted Arthur Hoffmann Trophy for ‘Viticulturist of Best Wine of Show’.

It’s the second time a Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon has taken top honours, with the 2010 vintage dominating the 2012 Limestone Coast Wine Show. Chief of Judges, Jane Faulkner, declared that it “just screamed its region”: “There’s a lot to like with this Cabernet Sauvignon, from its vibrant fruit profile to its detailed tannins and above all, freshness,” she said.

"Winning the Arthur Hoffman trophy is amazing. It really is a great credit to the vineyard team," viticulturist, Martin Wirper, commented. "Wolf Blass have been sourcing fruit from the Limestone Coast for a long time. The grapes that go into this wine are from the Coonawarra terra rossa, and the vines are 35 years old, so they’re really producing some great fruit, and it comes through in the wine.

"With the calibre of the wines that are on show, winning it once is fantastic for anyone, but winning it twice is really good. It’s great," he said.

The 2016 Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon was also awarded a gold medal.

Congratulations to Martin and the entire Wolf Blass team on this outstanding result.
