More good news from the Wolf Blass camp after having been awarded the Best of Nation - Australia trophy at the 2016 San Francisco International Wine Competition. This caps off a fantastic July following the recent success at the IWC, being named Red Winemaker of the Year. Wolf Blass wines took out a total of 32 medals in the 2016 competition, including seven Double Gold and seven Gold medals across our luxury range of wines. The largest and most influential international wine competition in America, the San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC) has been setting the standard for professional wine judging since its debut in 1980. Now in its 36th year, the SFIWC maintains the highest level of integrity with a blind-tasting system performed by a highly experienced panel of internationally acclaimed wine experts. An SFIWC medal has been established as a reliable indication of wine excellence, and wines recognised as medal-worthy by judges universally understood to be among the very best in the world. Wolf Blass has enjoyed great success at this admired show in recent times, having been named International Winery of the Year at the same awards in 2015.

Wolf Blass Chief Winemaker, Chris Hatcher, is elated with this result from America, the largest wine market in the world. “Receiving such strong commendation for our wines in the world’s largest wine market is exciting and is particularly pleasing to see new wines like Blass represented alongside classics like our Black, Grey and Gold Labels receiving Double Golds. At Wolf Blass, we pride ourselves on being a world class winery and creating award winning wines that are enjoyed across the world and these awards help further cement this philosophy”, he said.
